It is very much worth the effort to get it working. I am by NO means an experienced user - but it sounds like you have the same issues I was struggling with. Windows will ask you to confirm you want that port open. #ASTRONOMY PLATE SOLVING SOFTWARE SOFTWARE#One other thing - make sure port 1499 is open in BYEOS - otherwise the two pieces of software can't talk to each other. I completely deleted and reloaded AT Saturday afternoon and AT behaved perfectly Saturday night. It was solving, but with the target off to the left of the BYEOS target/focusing circle. BYEO had startup licensing issues, which I quickly fixed, but AT was just a mess. I did have some weird errors with AT after my laptop was upgraded Friday to Win 10 1903. I deleted the settings in the option line - they were redundantly "wrong" - lol. My "stupid stick" error was I had a discrepancy between the settings of the -L and -H values in the option line, and what the settings were for the Scale Min and Scale Max. One suggestion as a starting point, is to take an image from the preview folder where BYEOS (I also use that for camera control) stores the images requested by AT and upload it to and see if it solves. It was interesting that one had downscaling set to "0" the other had it set to "1", but both configurations worked. Plate Solving provides additional benefits when used with a computer connected mount including accurate gotos with automated alignment. Stash and Martin both jumped in to help me and included some screenshots of their settings which also helped. The Plate Solving 1 article described how Plate Solving software uses pattern matching to determine the stars and other objects that appear in an image. You also might look back thru this discussion. One of the very helpful replies referred to this tutorial - which was helpful. Your experiences sound like what I was struggling with two weeks ago. What other plate solving software tools do you use? I would prefer something offline, like astrotortilla, but if an internet connection is required I'm fine with that too.Īnother question on AstroTortilla - the website shows software from about 2014 and a beta from 2016 - is it still being actively developed ? Edited Octoby TerryMcK I probably need to re-install it again but. Having said that it is flakey probably due to my installation. Even changing the parameters to arcsecperpix works very occassionally - that seems to have been the most reliable. #ASTRONOMY PLATE SOLVING SOFTWARE DRIVERS#PlaneWave Interface 4 controls the L-Series mounts, and the PW1000 telescope system. The software includes an ASCOM Telescope driver for mount control, as well as optional ASCOM Rotator and Focuser drivers for the PW1000 telescope. However it does not always work and when I try goto image, load a TIF and let it plate solve it rarely works. Control software for L-Series mounts (L-350, L-500, and L-600) and the PW1000. I've installed and configured AstroTortilla and had varying degrees of success with it. It has some very attractive features that I've always thought Maxim should have but doesn't, to many to mention so i've added this video that is was the The Astro Imaging Channel that goes thru many of them. This has probably been asked many, many times before but I am interested in what other members have had success with. Next steps will be to see how PHD2 guiding compares to MaximDL. Iit uses PHD2 for guiding but it's built into the software suite, then plate solving, and finally, running a image capture sequence. So far, I've installed the software (45 day free trial) and it's talking to all my hardware, atlas mount, sBig camera, Orion starshoot auto guider, and robo-focus. Could this be a viable option to MaximDL? #ASTRONOMY PLATE SOLVING SOFTWARE GENERATOR#After some hunting around I found what the acronym stood for, Sequence Generator Pro, SGP is a image capture suite with a very low price point of $100. #ASTRONOMY PLATE SOLVING SOFTWARE PRO#Sequence Generator Pro is an amazing new astronomy imaging software and so much more! While reading a Maxim DL post about a soon to be released updated guiding routine, I saw a mention of an acronym I was unfamiliar with.
